What a proud day ... Riley earned his Spark book and vest at Awanas!! On the left is the booklet with one verse he had to learn before he could "promote" or "earn" an award. HE DID IT!! We worked with him through the "John 3:16 For God so loved the world..." and his teacher helped him get the rest and EARN his award! "John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and Only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". What an accomplishment for 1 1/2 days!! He was so excited when I called him to tell him that he had earned it! Great end to a rainy day. Way to go Buddy!!

What an amazing day! The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Contests were held today at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center. There were 4 contests today which consisted of washers, horseshoes, dominos and team penning. Can I say ... WOW! This was my first experience with this part of the HLSR and I have to say I enjoyed it almost as much as the rodeo in March! The team penning section was the most exciting for me today but I think that was because of the horses and fluffy calves (yes fluffy!). Anyway, during the intermission session from competition to finals there were a couple of horses in the warm up arena. Just what I was looking for today! A cowboy (no I have my own!) on his horse with a black hat! Now it only took him 6 or 8 rounds the arena before the horse was in the right position and he tipped his hat ... but finally!!! I have so many wonderful shots but this is the one I was after today. Smugmug ... get ready to be overloaded once I get the photos marked and ready! Amazing day ... thank you to all of the contestants!

Lisa ... this is for you! Once I finished my running for the day I wanted to get to the waterfront and see if there were any birds around. Just as I pulled into the boat ramp park there were pelicans in this run off pond. I saw them but didn't see what they were doing. I made the round to be sure to evaluate the entire location and when I was heading back towards the exit these guys were dive bombing into the water. It was totally hilarious!! They would fly out of the water a foot or two or ten and then dive right into the water nose first. There were so many shots to choose from but this one took the prize for today. So the rest will be sorted and loaded to my smugmug account. What a great place to watch these guys in action!

So yesterday I got home and didn't even think about the camera for the daily photo. When I woke up this morning I felt horrible about it. Grabbed the camera and went outside to see if the sunrise was going to be pretty ... yep! There it was. So then I thought today would be a GREAT day for two photos instead of just one. Well then the little guy came over for dinner and had on a Lego shirt ... hummm. So can you find the cars you got for Christmas and put together? Yep! Well then the three predesigned and put together cars turned into Lego Land on the kitchen counter .. here is the result. (How cool!!)
2 trucks, 1 race car, 1 strangely long contraption, 1 tractor and one double decker bus with two Lego dudes on top (with eyes!!).

It was raining all day and just outside the back door is a roof run off spot. When I went outside with the camera there was a puddle ... I really wanted water suspended. It was cold ... I finally gave up and went back inside!

On Sunday after the clean up of a cookoff is over all I really want is a nap ... Sabryna beat me to it! I was too tired to look for anything interesting.

Saturday was the junior cookoff alongside the adult cookoff. There were not very many teams but our group had two teams and they did very well. Once they were done with their cooking we spent a couple of hours taking pictures and being silly. This was a moment when the kiddos were busy and there was an opportunity to see what would happen. Later I caught some of the boys with the flames but they were not the best of shots. I thought this might be appropriate for a cookoff weekend.
18:365
So this was cookoff number two of the year weekend. Lots of food, beverages and cool things to see all over! During our walk to the cooks meeting we come across the coolest pit there!! Then the gentleman that owned the pit tells me it is for his grandson to cook in the junior competitions on Saturday morning. But that isn't the best part ... he's got a TRACTOR to pull it with!!! I was so pumped about seeing it that I almost couldn't sleep. HE WAS SO CUTE!!! The picture of the pit and tractor are not the shot for day 19 but I'm posting it here anyway. It was the cutest thing!!!
And the little boy driving it was absolutely adorable!! He won 2 trophies!

The flowers bought for the show last week are finally beginning to fall apart. I have kept all of the flower petals that my sweet man has given me so these are no doubt headed for a vase for safe keeping. What a great idea! Fresh pedals in a crackly vase! With a little staging ... here is the PAD.

Yesterday was the first full moon of the year. Lisa challenged us to get out and get a good shot. Well I missed the good shot on Wednesday morning driving into work without my phone or camera! The moon was huge and a wonderful color I can't describe. Last night when I got home the spot where my car is parked was lite up by the moon even though the clouds were coming in. Through the trees above my car there was a moon.
15:365
My two sweet kitties! Just before I walked outside to get a good picture of the moon (ha!) Tinkerbell the cat from across the street came by to visit my girls. The shots from in the house were horrible but the "welcome" was a little testy! They fight from either side of the glass! I think they were waiting for a second visit. I had some other good pictures of some great flowers but this one just fit the day!

What an exciting trip to the Kemah Boardwalk! We had a great time celebrating a birthday and our group getting together again. Dinner was wonderful, the weather cooperated and the amusement park was beautiful as it has ever been. On the way into Saltgrass for dinner we passed a flower bed with these beautiful cabbage plants with water drops. How cool is that?!

On Sunday nights I help at my church with Awana's Kindergarten Sparky's. The theme for the night was crazy sock night. I waited all day to get to class so that I could use the kiddo's crazy socks for the PAD and guess what there were only 4 kids in class with SOCKS! It was still worth the shot without the crazy socks and they absolutely loved it!

My sweet man bought flowers for me on Thursday because I was having a party and had a bad week. They were beautiful then ... but today they have opened up so much more beautifully and were just begging to be the subject of this PAD. Thanks Babe!

On the way to scrapbook tonight I saw that the American and Texas flags were still at half mast and realized I should have posted a picture of this earlier. On January 8, 2011 there was a tragedy in Arizona which resulted in eight killed and Congressman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head. Of the eight killed one was a child born on 9.11.2001. The flags at the Plant Dodge in Humble, Tx were still down and it was such an appropriate picture for the day.

Judy and I had a wonderful group of ladies at my house tonight for a Pampered Chef show (Thank you Dannette!!!) and so I used them in my 365! HA! They had no idea but I changed the finger nails to protect the innocent (HA!) Thank you ladies ... can't wait for the next one.

Our family Christmas present for the front door. Jason did good with the construction and putting it up on the house. How cool!

So my honey has been doing some updating around the outside of the house. This was our first sign outside and I'm hoping to have a few more of them very soon.

So on Monday I had a very busy day. The Rodeo Committee that I am on is hosting a Bowling Tournament next month and I was helping a very sweet crafty friend make the trophies for the tournament. Bowling Pin Trophies!! So when I didn't get home until 11pm I thought I needed something to "show" what I had been doing all night ... so from my phone and not the "real" camera. I knew this day would come but at least I had the phone!

Jason found this really cute lamp that I think is suppose to be a Christmas ornament but he is so cute!! Now if I just had a battery to light it up!

Several weeks ago I was fishing with my Dad and we ended up by the Monument in the water. There was this wonderful park we could see from the water but I had no idea how to get there. Today on the way home ... I FOUND IT! Who knew that Baytown had a Nature Center that lead right to the edge of the water for amazing shots of the Monument, birds, fish, alligators maybe and the water. I can see more trips to this park in my future!

The purple climbing rose on the side of our home didn't realize it was going to get cold, hence the reason it was pruned. So there were three blooms and I missed one, almost missed the second and the third was not quite as pretty in pictures but the vase and the water in the sun was very interesting.

I really wanted this picture yesterday but the light was not cooperating. Today I thought it about it and did a little flash consideration and here she is!! New pansy bloom from the from porch. Isn't she cute?

I have had this bear for so many years I can not remember where he came from originally. All day I was thinking about what I would pick for today's picture and he raised his hand and said pick me! He was so cute!

Since the group decided to start this project today my brain has been racing all afternoon to figure out what to take pictures of. With only a little bit of time this evening when I got home the choice had to be within the walls of home. With the dismantling of the Christmas decorations from the fire place mantel there had to be something put in its place. So some new really cool vases have taken up residence there (and they were were VERY reasonable I might add!) along with some left over candles in my stash a very interesting white and silver display has take up residence. Very simple and when the lights are out and the candles are lit a very interesting form of light. So here is my first posting. Candle and vases from the mantle at home.
365 Photo Project
A group of photography friends decided to find a challenge for our group this year. Take a picture everyday. What a great idea! Now, what to take pictures of? So this is going to be a journey for all of us. Daily challenges to make time to take a picture or a few and then find the "one" to post each day. We are still trying to find the right forum for these pictures so this may not be the final resting place but it is a start.
We are starting the project on January 4, 2011 and it should come to an end on January 3, 2012. WOW! 2012 and I thought we would never see 2000! Whole other story.
Anyway, enjoy the project posts and the stories for the shots. What a great challenge!
